Happy Sunday Mighty Hawk Band!

 

Congratulations go out the Birdville High School Jazz Bands for having great performances at the 50th Annual Texas Tech Jazz Festival this past Saturday. I am very proud to say that the Fifth Period Jazz Band (FPJ) placed 1st overall in the Non Varsity Class of the Festival, and the Birdville High School Jazz Ensemble placed 1st overall in the entire festival being named the Grand Champion of the 50th Annual Texas Tech Jazz Festival! We also had a number of students receive individual “Outstanding Soloist / Musician” awards.

We couldn’t be more proud of you guys!

 

We’re looking forward to a week of wonderful performances at the UIL Concert and Sightreading Contest!

 

The Schedule for the week is as followed:

 

Monday – Concert Band Rehearsal / Symphonic Band Rehearsal

·         3:00 – 4:15pm – Concert Band Rehearsal

·         4:30 – 6:00pm – Symphonic Band Rehearsal

Tuesday –UIL Concert and Sightreading Contest (Non Varsity Bands) / Wind Ensemble Rehearsal

·         10:00am – Concert Band UIL Performance (Haltom High School)

·         3:30pm – Symphonic Band UIL Performance (Haltom High School)

·         4:30 – 6:30pm – Wind Ensemble Rehearsal

Wednesday –Wind Ensemble UIL Concert and Sightreading Contest

·         1:30pm – Wind Ensemble UIL Performance (Haltom High School)

Thursday – Symphonic Band Rehearsal

·         5:00 – 7:00pm Symphonic Band Rehearsal

Friday – Wind Ensemble Rehearsal

·         3:00 – 5:00pm

 

UIL Concert and Sight Reading Concert – We want to highly encourage everyone who can to attend the UIL Concert and Sight Reading Contest held this Tuesday and Wednesday at Haltom High School. The students have been working very hard on their programs for the last three and a half months to get to this point and would love to have an audience to play for at the contest. We hope to see you there!

 

Jazz Dinner Auction – Our Annual Jazz Dinner and Auction is soon approaching (Saturday, April 22, 2017)  and we wanted to give you an update on the event. Last week, all students were issued five tickets to sell for the event. Again, we are asking that everyone does their part and sells all five tickets. The evening will be a great time with live entertainment from all three Jazz Bands (Smithfield Middle School Jazz Band, FPJ, and the Birdville High School Jazz Ensemble). There will also be fun games, raffles, and of course, our silent and live auction. We are in need of your help to gather donations for auction items. We are looking for:
