State Marching Contest Itinerary 2017

Mighty Hawk Band Family,

Please find the itinerary for the State Marching Contest attached to this Email. Please note the packing list on page 3 and please be sure to send the students with extra money to purchase food for dinner on and souvenirs (State Marching Contest Patches, T-Shirts, and Hoodies) on Wednesday afternoon. We hope to see you guys at the Alamo Dome Cheering us on.

5A State Marching Band Championship
Monday November 6th
3:30 pm – Rehearsal
6:30 pm – Head to BHS to Change into Uniform
7:15 pm – Parent Send-off Performance in the FAAC
7:30 pm – Load Truck
Tuesday November 7th
7:00 AM – Band Hall Opens

  • Wear White Band Shirt and rehearsal pants to school / travel
  • Place Luggage in assigned location for loading (see packing list) 7:00AM – 7:30AM
  • Students attend all of 1st and 2nd period and are dismissed from the beginning of 3rd period

9:20 AM – Roll Check in Band Hall / Load Buses
9:30 AM – Depart for Madison High School

  • 5005 Stahl Rd, San Antonio, TX 78247
  • Subway Lunch will served en route – Temple, TX(provided)
  • 2:45PM – Arrive at Madison HS and Unload
  • Change into rehearsal pants / shoes
3:00 PM – Rehearsal
6:00 PM – Load Trucks / Depart for Dinner
6:30 PM – Arrive at Incredible Pizza for dinner

8:45 PM Load buses for Hotel
Remain on bus until room keys are distributed to first name on rooming list

11:00PM – Lights Out – Big Day Tomorrow!

Wednesday November 8th
5:30AM – Wake Up / Breakfast (provided) / Dress in Halves (BLACK show shirt)

6:30AM – Depart for Alamodome

    • 100 Montana Street, San Antonio, TX 7:00AM – Arrive at Alamodome / Unload

7:50AM – Warmup
9:00AM – Prelims Performance – Let’s Go Hawks!
9:45 AM – Load Truck / Change into jeans, etc. / Depart for Hotel
11:00 AM- Lunch – Raising Cane’s
12:30 PM – Nap / Hang Out / Do your homework.
4:30 PM – Return to Alamodome – dinner on own at Alamodome ($10 provided)
6:00 PM – 5A Finalist Announcements
**Evening TBD**
Perform in Finals or watch Finals
Finals begin at 7:30PM (warmup begins at 6:30pm)
10:30 PM Awards Ceremony
11:00 PM Depart for Hotel

Thursday November 9th
8:00AM – Wake Up / Breakfast (provided) / Clean Room / Check Out 10:00AM – Depart for Birdville High School

  • Stop in Austin to visit Inner Space Caverns or the State Capital Building
  • Stop in Round Rock / eat lunch ($10 provided)

2:30 PM – Continue to BHS
5:00 PM – Arrive / Unload / Clean / Go Home

Packing List

  • Items for performance – BLACK show shirt, compression shorts, black socks, hygiene material
  • Items for rehearsal – WHITE band shirt, appropriate pants and shoes, dot book, water jug
  • “Nicer” Clothes for Tuesday dinner
  • Birdville Clothes for Thursday travel

Stadium Clean Up this week…

Stadium Clean Up Fundraiser – Each year BISD offers the Band Programs an opportunity to earn money by cleaning the FAAC after the home football games. They paid the Band $600 per cleaning (that’s $2,400 per season) .
